Choosing a Blackjack Table to Play

Play BlackjackWhenever you find yourself in a casino, or on the Internet and looking to play some blackjack, you will be faced with the decision of which blackjack table to play at. A lot of blackjack players consider a lot of different factors when looking at sitting down at a blackjack table. Some blackjack players will look at the blackjack dealer dealing at the blackjack table, before choosing it, some blackjack players will look at the blackjack players sitting at and playing at a specific blackjack table before sitting down at that blackjack table. Some blackjack players will look at the amount of chips the blackjack dealer has in his or her tray, some players may look at how many chips the blackjack players at a specific blackjack table have in front of them, before choosing to sit down at a specific blackjack table. Some blackjack players will stand and watch to see how well the seated blackjack players are doing at a specific blackjack table, how well they play, how well they are doing, as far as winning or losing, etc.

It is important to remember, when looking for a blackjack table to sit down and play at, to make sure to be looking at the table limits of the tables. For example, some tables may have betting limits which have a minimum bet of five dollars per hand and some may have much higher table minimum bets, such as twenty five dollars per hand, or even a hundred dollars per hand, minimum bet. Table maximum betting limits are not as important, unless you are a hard core blackjack player that might find yourself having the urge to bet a lot of money per hand.

Most casinos have more female blackjack dealers than male blackjack dealers, from what I have seen, it is usually two thirds female blackjack dealers versus one third male blackjack dealers. This is due to the fact that history has shown that the majority of blackjack players are male and quite a few of those male blackjack players prefer female blackjack dealers. From a male blackjack dealer's point of view, it is a double edged sword, it is a little bit of a challenge getting jobs as a blackjack dealer in a casino, being a male blackjack dealer, but once in, the male blackjack dealer is working with mostly female blackjack dealers. Casinos also hire more female blackjack dealers than male blackjack dealers, because the casino management believes that female blackjack dealers are a little more sympathetic, or compassionate towards blackjack players when they are losing, and feel the urge to try and comfort losing blackjack players, where as some casino management theories are that male blackjack dealers just don't empathize enough for losing blackjack players.

If you are one of those blackjack players that look for blackjack tables where the blackjack dealer has few chips in the tray, implying that the table has been losing and the players have been winning, it is important to remember, if the table has a lot of chips in the tray, it may not be because the house is winning at that table and the players are losing, it may be just because the players have won a lot of chips on that table and have put the chips in their pockets and the dealer ran low on chips in his or her tray and needed more. It could also be because it is close to shift change and the pit boss thought it best to top off each of the blackjack table's chip tray before leaving for the day. It could also be because it is just after shift change and the incoming pit boss decided to fill all of the chip trays on all of the blackjack tables, to try and avoid needing to fill them up later.

If you are one of the blackjack players that only look for blackjack tables where the blackjack players have a lot of chips in front of them, there are a couple things you should try to keep in mind as well. For example, a blackjack table where all of the blackjack players have a lot of chips in front of them, does not always mean that the blackjack players at that table are winning, in fact it could just mean that they bought in for a lot of money and are just now starting to win back some of the chips they have lost along the way, but are still down quite a bit of cash at that table. An other example would be, just because a table full of blackjack players with few or no chips in front of them, does not mean that the blackjack players at that table are losing, they could just be simply putting all of their chips in their pocket, to try and discourage any other blackjack players from thinking the table is a winning table and jumping in and ruining what ever streak the existing players may have been on.

If you are one of those blackjack players that will stand and watch a blackjack table, before sitting down and playing, to see if the players are winning or losing, there is a couple things you may want to remember as well. For instance, if you stand and watch a table for a few minutes, or even a shoe or two and you find the players are winning more than they are losing, that does not mean that they have been winning like that all day at that table, it could be the first little winning streak those players have been on all day. You should also keep in mind, that even if those players have been winning all day at that table, that if you sit down and decide to play at that blackjack table, that does not mean you too will also start winning like those players are. In fact, it could work out to be the exact opposite, maybe the change in the number of hands at that table could change the entire rhythm of that table and everyone, including you, could start losing hand after hand.

In the end, I believe that when choosing a blackjack table to sit down and play at should be based on the comfort of the table limits and not so much the comfort you have with the blackjack dealer him or herself, because it is important to remember, a lot of casinos will change the dealer on the blackjack tables anywhere from every twenty minutes to every hour, and the blackjack dealer at your table may go on to an other table, somewhere all the way on the other side of the casino. An other good variable to keep in mind is the players at the table already, it is sometimes good to have good chemistry with those players, because after all, you are there at the casino to have a good time and enjoy yourself, so you should try to surround yourself with blackjack players that are fun to be around.
